The inaugural ‘5K Run at Lambeau Field’ has nearly reached its capacity with more than 2,800 registrants, the Green Bay Packers reported Friday.
Interested participants are encouraged to register before the event reaches its capacity of 3,000 runners.
The event, presented by the Packers and Bellin Health, is a run/walk set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, the first day of Packers training camp.
The computer-timed run is highlighted by a neighborhood route that ultimately takes participants into Lambeau Field and around the famed gridiron. The event has a special finish line located in the parking lot – a replica of the team's 50-yard line, which will be created on a partially sized field, painted to mirror Lambeau Field on game day.
Bellin Health is contributing its considerable race expertise to the event through logistical and medical support. The organization’s 10K race, the Bellin Run, is among the nation’s most popular races, and drew more than 18,000 registrants for its 34th running last month.
All participants will receive a Packers 5K Run t-shirt, logoed bag, and a bib number with built-in timing strip. In addition, photos will be taken on the course and will be available at no cost on the Packers 5K Run website.
Packers-themed awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group at an awards ceremony in the Tundra Tailgate Zone after the race.
Registration, which is $30 for adults and $20 for children (12 and younger), is available online at www.packers.com/5k. Mail-in registration also is an option, with forms available online and in person at Lambeau Field.
The Tundra Tailgate Zone will be open for the event, with Saz’s offering food and beverage for purchase.
The Packers are partnering with local charities to raise money with the event. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Anxiety Disorder Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Club of Brown County, My Team Triumph, YWCA and the Volunteer Center of Brown County.
WIXX 101 is serving as radio partner for the event.

With a theme of “Back to Football,” the Packers and Bellin Health have joined together to present training camp, Packers Family Night and the team’s two home preseason games. Family Night is set for Aug. 7, and home preseason games are scheduled for Aug. 14, vs. the Cleveland Browns, and Aug. 26, vs. the Indianapolis Colts.
