Can we have an uncensored “Ask Vic” again? It was quite entertaining the last time.

We might need one. I’m having to spend way too much time editing questions.

Derk from Chippewa Falls, WI

If you could bring back any old-school offense, what would it be? I say bring back the Wing-T.

The Wing-T is my all-time favorite offense, but to bring it back you would also have to legalize the signature block in the Wing-T, the post and turn. It’s illegal because the post and turn is a two-man block in which the tackle stands up the end as the wingback crab-blocks the end’s knees and turns him.

What happened in 1995 to make us so sensitive?

I have to write a redaction: It was 1996.

Kevin from Morristown, NJ

Vic, with all the talented DBs the Packers have, what are the chances Capers pulls out a 4-2-5 formation? And what are your thoughts on this formation?

I think “nickel” is a very sound sub-package defense.

Nolan from West Salem, WI

Vic, I think the final WR spots will be the most exciting roster competition this year. Which position are you looking forward to in regards to roster competition?

Cornerback.

LuLu from North Hollywood, CA

Will the Packers ever be the team on HBO “Hard Knocks”?

There’s a better chance of the Packers putting a dome on Lambeau Field.

David from Los Angeles, CA

Vic, I’m guessing you, like me, aren’t too riveted to the FIFA corruption scandal story?

I like the NFL’s scandals better.

Derek from Eau Claire, WI

What second-year player do you think makes the biggest improvement for the Packers this season?

I’m going to get wild with this pick: Mike Pennel. I really liked what I saw in last year’s training camp.

Kyle from Ottawa, Ontario

Vic, when football wasn’t a year-long commitment, what would you do in the offseason for work?

I’d become a general assignment sports reporter. I’d cover college and high school basketball, Pirates games, a golf tournament, whatever needed to be covered. They were nice diversions, but I was always happy for training camp to begin.

Tim from Normal, IL

Vic, when Auburn ran back Alabama’s missed FG for a TD a couple of years ago, Alabama had all linemen on the field. Do you foresee NFL teams adding a speed player on extra points to help prevent run-backs?

I’m anticipating an explosion of special teams strategy. Think back to the NFC title game and that fake field goal play by the Seahawks. How big was that? I think head coaches throughout the league are viewing special teams as a new frontier, and the new PAT rule change is going to drive new strategies.

Jim from Naugatuck, CT

Could you explain, again, the waiver procedure? Especially how the NFL determines which team is awarded a player when more than one team claims him.

The team highest in the claim order is awarded the player.

Dave from Lake Zurich, IL

The pellets from artificial turf clog washing machines, so we had to shake out our son’s uniform before washing it.

I got them all over the carpet of my office from shaking them out of my shoes.

Barry from Hayward, WI

Vic, is a team’s personality derived from the city they play in or from the owner?

If the owner is smart, he’ll let the spirit of place define his team. It lasts.

Zack from Boca Raton, FL

Vic, do you think the new play-caller will oblige Aaron Rodgers a little more often when he wants to go for it on fourth down?

That’s a decision that will continue to be made by the head coach. This play-calling mania is way over the top. Mike McCarthy will be sitting in and participating in all offensive game-planning meetings, and he’ll be wearing a headset and listening to the calls being made. He’ll be in constant communication with Tom Clements. This is still Coach McCarthy’s offense and, ultimately, he’s still calling the shots.

Kevin from Vinton, IA

What made the 2011 Packers offense so special? With the balanced attack and offensive line, will this year’s offense be better?

It was the lack of a running game that made the 2011 offense so prolific. The Packers couldn’t run the ball so they just kept throwing it and piling up yards and points. The real question is why did it take opposing defenses so long to load up against the pass and flood the passing lanes? The arrival of Eddie Lacy in 2013 and the emergence of a powerful running game made the Packers offense much more balanced, and a balanced offense is always better than a one-trick attack.

Evan from Oshkosh, WI

Any updates on “Ask Vic Day”?

July 29th is firm. Registration will be soon.

Jason from Austin, TX

Vic, are there rules for which uniform, white or dark, a team can wear at home? Is it the home team’s choice?

It’s the home team’s choice, and the decision is made long before the week of the game.

Rob from Webb City, MO

Vic, is there even a tiny scrap of information regarding OTAs you can throw to this collective pack of ravenous fans?

An OTAs practice will be open to the media for the first time today.

Maximillian from Sydney, Australia

Vic, do you think having the Seahawks so early in the season will be a distraction for our opening game against the Bears?

Nobody overlooks an opener, especially when it’s against a division rival.

Scotty from Chicago, IL

Vic, is finding a dependable backup QB the biggest challenge for the Packers for the upcoming season?

It’s high on the list for things to do in the preseason.

Justin from Lewistown, MT

I believe spread offense is destroying the basic reads and skills of the offensive line. Players are coming into the league having to be completely retrained by coaches immediately. Your thoughts?

A lot of good linemen are hidden in college spread offenses. I think that’s what happened with Don Barclay.
