After his exceptional performance in Sunday afternoon’s 27-17 victory against the rival Chicago Bears, tight end Jermichael Finley was named the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame’s Featured Player of the Week.
Finley made seven catches for 85 yards and a career-high three touchdowns. This was only the second three-TD game by a tight end in Green Bay Packers history (Keith Jackson, Sept. 1, 1996 at Tampa Bay). In the three games so far this season, Finley has totaled 206 yards on 15 receptions.
Each week, the game football will be placed on display to be viewed by visitors to the Hall and at the end of the week will be awarded randomly to a Hall of Fame visitor who signed up for the drawing.
Also in the exhibit will be the featured player’s jersey, as well as potentially other items such as a face mask, shoes, gloves and other equipment.
The exhibit opened Sept. 12 and will continue through the season. Hall of Fame admission is required to see the exhibit, and visitors are able to fill out a drawing form for a chance to win the ball. One drawing ticket will be distributed per each paid admission. Drawing winners will be selected at close of business Saturday and be notified on or before the following Monday.
The winners of game balls thus far have been Tom Cota of Gillett, Wis. (Week 1, Randall Cobb) and Mary Joe Benner of Mason City, Iowa of (Week 2, Charles Woodson).
The featured player will be selected after each game and will be indicated in game coverage on the team’s Web site, Packers.com. Packers.com also will feature a photo of the display at the beginning of each week.
