As throngs of Packers fans gather at Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers and Sargento embark on their 10th season supporting “Touchdowns for Charity,” a program that helps alleviate hunger in Wisconsin through contributions to the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay.

For each touchdown scored by the Packers during the 2012 regular season, Sargento will donate $1,000 to the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and $500 to Paul’s Pantry in Green Bay.

“As the official cheese of the Green Bay Packers, we’re proud to show not only our support of the hometown team, but also our long-term commitment to helping feed those in need,” said Louie Gentine, president and chief customer officer of Sargento Foods Inc. “We hope to donate much more in honor of our 10th season as the high-flying Green and Gold drive the program to success.”

Since partnering 10 years ago, Sargento has contributed more than $775,000 to Wisconsin food charities. Last year, Sargento donated $74,000 to the Hunger Task Force and $26,000 to Paul’s Pantry for touchdowns scored in regular and postseason games.

During Packers home games, announcements will be made after every touchdown indicating the support for the program. Packers.com will feature a Sargento banner logo with the up-to-date total.

Sargento, a family-owned, Wisconsin-based company, is supporting Packers sponsorship throughout Wisconsin grocery retailers during the season with in-store displays and special product promotions to generate excitement with Packers fans. Sargento is also present at Lambeau in concessions with cheeseburgers featuring Sargento Deli Style Mild Cheddar cheese and breaded cheese curds featuring natural Cheddar cheese.
