GREEN BAY — The Packers have had a week off and now a long week of practice that started on Monday. To say they’re eager to retake the field for a game would be an understatement.
“Definitely. There’s good energy. They’re ready to go,” Head Coach Mike McCarthy said on Friday in his last meeting with the media before Sunday night’s game against the Giants at Lambeau Field. “The early bye week, it’s different for the veterans, the rookies don’t know any better, but anytime you get into a week that feels like it’s a little longer, particularly with a Sunday night game, you can feel the energy on Fridays and it will probably be the same tomorrow. They’re ready to go.”
Second-year CB Damarious Randall popped up on the injury report this week with a groin injury and has been limited in practice. McCarthy said he hopes there won’t be any concern come Sunday night.
After this fourth game of 2016, suspended players Mike Pennel and Demetri Goodson are eligible to be activated to the roster, but no pending roster decisions have been made.
“Pre-planning is something you do all the time, but you’re not going to have all the answers to the equation until we get done playing this game Sunday night,” McCarthy said. “(The discussions) will occur Monday after we get the medical report from our training staff.”
