The Packers have announced that Jared Marsh of Pulaski High School has been named the Green Bay Packers High School Coach of the Week.
Marsh, in his fourth year as the varsity head coach of Pulaski, led the Red Raiders to a 56-49 comeback victory over Holmen High School in the second round of the WIAA Division 2 Tournament on Friday, Oct. 28. The Red Raiders trailed the Vikings 28-42 at halftime; however, Pulaski’s defense tightened in the second half, only allowing seven points. Both teams combined for 957 rushing yards, 599 of those yards coming from Pulaski. The Red Raiders will now go on the road to play Menomonie High School on Friday, Nov. 4.
“It was a heck of a high school football game,” Marsh said. “They scored on their first six possessions. Their offense was excellent. We were lucky enough to get closer at the end of the half. We came out in the second half and our defense did an outstanding job only allowing one touchdown. That enabled our offense to work ahead and we were able to capitalize on it and come out on top.”
Marsh grew up in Seymour, Wis., and attended Seymour High School, where he participated in football, basketball and baseball for the Thunder. Marsh played linebacker and tight end under Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame member, Bill Collar. Following his graduation from Seymour in 1997, Marsh went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 2001. While at Stout, he participated in football as a linebacker under Coach Ed Meierkort.
Marsh began his football coaching career at West De Pere High School as a junior varsity coach in 2001. After working as the varsity defensive coordinator for the Phantoms from 2002 until 2005, Marsh coached the running backs and tight ends for one year at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and then coached for three years at Tomahawk High School in Wisconsin. Marsh was then hired as the athletic director of Pulaski High School, and became the head coach of the varsity football team in 2013.
Marsh and his staff oversee a program of 100 players, 52 of whom play at the varsity level. His assistant staff includes Adam Wesoloski, Dusty Neubauer, David Desmond, Cory Krizizke, Todd Rodal, Jim Kane, Jeff Waggoner, Dave Krizizke, Max Pirman, Rick Kamps, Michael Heim, Chris Francies, Aaron Vang, Jeremy Borseth, Kevin Barry, Michael Heim, Adam Wesoloski, Kaleb Santy and Andy LaFave.
In addition to coaching football, Marsh is also a technology education teacher at Pulaski High School.
Marsh and his wife, Libby, have three sons, Jack, Ben and Eddie.
