Packers fans attending this Sunday night’s home opener against the Seattle Seahawks will relive history as the team welcomes back Super Bowl I alumni and Packers Hall of Famers as a part of the Packers’ traditional alumni weekend celebration. The alumni will make up the game’s ambassador line, and will be introduced from the field during halftime.
To continue the team’s celebration of alumni weekend, Green Bay Packers alumnus Esera Tuaolo will sing the national anthem. Additionally, two featured alumni are scheduled to make appearances Sunday; LeRoy Butler and Ken Ruettgers will be taking part in fan activities at the Tundra Tailgate Zone and Legends Club leading up to kickoff.
As Sunday’s game is the Packers’ home opener, the team is reminding fans to take extra care when purchasing game tickets from secondary sources. Fans are advised to buy tickets only from official sources and team partners such as NFL Ticket Exchange or Event USA, the official tour company of the Packers. Fans are encouraged to be diligent and do research before choosing to buy tickets from unofficial sources.
The Packers’ annual Coats for Kids collection will take place prior to the game in the Lambeau Field parking lot, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Fans attending the game will have the opportunity to donate new and gently used coats for distribution to needy children through the Salvation Army. Cash donations will be accepted as well.
In addition, the Packers and Arise Health Plan will be recognizing several veterans through Operation Fan Mail on the field prior to the national anthem: 1st Sgt. Timothy La Sage from Johnson Creek, Wis., Cpl. Bruce Brandon from Kenosha, Wis., Sgt. Ryan Baudhuin from Door County, Wis., 1st Lt. Dera Marcel from Port au Prince, Haiti, Sgt. Michael Gillitzer from Waterloo, Wis., Cpl. Craig Goldsmith from Madison, Wis., and Gunnery Sgt. John Matter from Lisbon, Wis. All served in the Marine Corps and are combat disabled and wounded veterans.
During halftime, the High School Quarterback Challenge competition on the field will feature players from Arrowhead High School and Catholic Memorial High School.
Fans at Sunday’s game can use free, enhanced Wi-Fi service by connecting to the “LambeauField” Wi-Fi network through the settings on their mobile devices. Those with cell service through Verizon Wireless can connect to Verizon’s own Wi-Fi network in the stadium and enjoy enhanced coverage. For those having difficulty connecting, Wi-Fi coaches in yellow shirts will be stationed in the concourses and club level to assist guests.
The free Green Bay Metro gameday bus service is brought to fans this week by Miller, and is available before and after the game until 1:30 a.m., with extended service to several areas of Green Bay. Fans visiting prior to gameday also are encouraged to use the free G-Line bus route, which runs each half hour between Lambeau Field and downtown Green Bay. Also taking place at the Sunday night home opener is the premier gameday tailgate party in the Tundra Tailgate Zone (TTZ) in the Lambeau Field parking lot. The TTZ is open to all fans, even those without tickets to the game, and features live bands, alumni autographs and food and beverages. Game attendees can also stop by the Fan Walkway for a variety of gameday activities, including interactive displays.
Near Harlan Plaza, fans can find the NBC Sunday Night Football Tour Bus, an interactive bus featuring lockers dressed for the Packers-Seahawks matchup, walls for fan photo opportunities and the Lombardi Trophy onsite for fans to see.
Fans will receive Get Loud Lambeau flags, compliments of Coke Zero, as the game giveaway.
