Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters on Wednesday defensive end Mike Neal underwent a “surgical procedure” on his injured left knee on Tuesday and will be lost to the team for a “significant period of time.” McCarthy went on to say that he didn’t believe the “surgical procedure” will require Neal to be placed on the injured reserve list.
Neal sustained the injury during training camp practice on Aug. 16. Following medical evaluation, Neal’s prospect for a return to action was categorized as “day to day.” He missed the Packers’ final three preseason games and the team’s season-opener.
