CANTON, Ohio – The Hall of Fame Game scheduled for Sunday night between the Packers and Colts has been canceled due to the field conditions at Tom Benson Stadium.
According to ESPN, the network slated to broadcast the game, an issue with the paint used on the midfield logo and in the end zones created hard, slick spots on the field that were deemed unsafe.
Efforts with the midfield logo to make the area playable were apparently unsuccessful.
“This is a difficult decision because a lot of fans came a long ways,” Hall of Fame president and executive director David Baker said in an interview with ESPN. “But we feel it’s the only decision to be made.”
