The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame is the home to many Packers treasures that fans enjoy seeing, but one new exhibit is drawing a lot of attention these days: the ‘championship’ items donated by Bart and Cherry Starr.
Located in the Lombardi area of the Hall of Fame, a display case featuring three championship rings from Bart and a spectacular, charm-adorned necklace from Cherry has been the center of attention since the donation, Sept. 18.
“It has been the talk of our visitors,” said Krissy Zegers, Packers Hall of Fame and Stadium Tours manager. “Fans definitely have been recognizing the significance of the donation. He’s a legend in Packers history, and the fans have appreciated seeing the first memorabilia of its kind here in the Hall.”
Debra and Dave Grabarczyk, on vacation in northeastern Wisconsin from South Milwaukee, Wis., were awed by the display.
“It’s very cool,” Dave said. “It was really nice of him to give up his rings for the fans to see here. It’s the best thing we’ve seen in the Hall.”
“The necklace is awesome,” Debra said of Bart’s gift to Cherry. “How players would really give up those items. It says a lot of the Starrs for them to do that.”
The display soon will be joined by a championship watch from Bart, and eventually down the road, his final championship ring, from Super Bowl II.
“We’ll have to come back and see those, too,” said Dave with excitement.
The ‘championship’ exhibit is on display daily at the Packers Hall of Fame.
